With Love From Popcorn

After a few weeks of resting, I’m now back doing cross stitch. I have been suffering a little with Carpel Tunnel Syndrome again but I wont let it stop me doing what I love, it just takes me a little longer now.

It’s my mum’s birthday soon so when I saw this wonderful little cross stitch of Popcorn I just had to stitch it and make it into a card. This didn’t take me long to stitch, just a couple of rainy afternoons before the school run.

I can post this on here now as she has opened her card early as we went visiting. My mum was very pleased with her card and said it was very beautiful, that always makes me feel as happy and excited as the one receiving the cards that I have cross stitched.

Here is the finished card but I do have to say that I didn’t make the card, my wonderful partner made the card while I was at work and I must say that it looks amazing, I know who I will be asking to make cards out of my little cross stitches now.

Charity Blanket is Finished

It’s taken a while in the making but here it is, the finished Charity blanket that myself and my cross stitch group made.

I really love the way all our little cross stitch projects have come together in this wonderful blanket, it was a pleasure to be a part of and I would like to do something like this again one day.

The big cross stitch in the middle is truly amazing, unfortunately I can’t take any credit for that one as it was stitched by the lady who organised everything for the stitching of this blanket. Think I might try and get the pattern though as I really like it.

My favourite one is the grey and white cat, second row in from the left and third one up from the bottom. Which is your favourite?

Spaniel Puppy

Someone I work with had this DMC classics cross stitch kit up in their loft for over 2 years and found it while doing a bit of a clear out. Not being a cross stitcher themselves but really liking the picture I was asked if I would stitch this for them, I couldn’t resist. It’s not something I would have brought myself being more of a cat person but I did enjoy stitching this one.

This has taken two weeks to stitch and I’m really pleased with the end results, I hope the lady this is for likes this just as much, if not more than me. I’m looking forward to seeing her reaction when I give this to her on Friday.

Which do you prefer to stitch, cats or dogs?

Bee Patchwork Pin Cushion

Thought I would try something a little more challenging and am very pleased with the results.

The bee chart was in Cross Stitch Crazy magazine, issue 161, in the 50 gift ideas section. I thought all the charts looked wonderful and it was difficult for me to choose which one to do.

These little bee’s were cross stitched while I was waiting in the car on the afternoon school runs, so it did take a few school runs until they were done.

I think I may end up with more pin cushions than I really need but I do enjoy making them.

First Try at a Pin Cushion

For Christmas my wonderful partner got me a sewing machine, I’ve never used one before – well only at school but that was a long time ago now – so I was really excited to try it out.

I didn’t want to try anything too big or complicated to start with so when I saw this baby elephant cross stitch I thought it would make a lovely first pin cushion project, for me to try out my sewing machine. In all honesty it would have been quicker for me to hand sew it but probably not as much fun.

As the sewing machine was out and I was having fun learning, even just the basics, I made another pin cushion. Well it should have been a scissor fob thingy but I forgot to attach the ribbon so now it’s a small pin cushion.

Chicks with a Flower

Here is the second design that I stitched from the free booklet that came with issue 186 of The World of Cross Stitching.

I have an idea of what I would like to with this adorable little cross stitch and that is to sew it onto a little basket (which I have yet to make) that will be used to collect eggs from our chickens at the bottom of the garden. That way we might have a few less breakages on the way back to the house.

Craft 4 Crafters Show

I entered a World of Cross Stitching competition a few weeks back and didn’t think any more about it, I keep saying to my partner that I never win anything. Well that was until I opened my post today and saw that I had won 2 tickets to the Craft 4 Crafters Show in Westpoint, Exeter.

I couldn’t believe it, I don’t usually win anything but I’m well chuffed and really looking forward to going now, not sure what day to go yet but it’s on for 3 days, 2nd-4th Feb 2012, so will be able to go on one of them.

It’s a pity I have to work on those days and have no chance of booking the day off, good job Exeter isn’t that far so once I finished work I can still be there for about lunch time.

I’m really excited and looking forward to going. Is anyone else going to the Craft 4 Crafters show?

Binky and a Butterfly

This cross stitch chart was in a booklet that came free with The World of Cross Stitching magazine, issue 186.  There were twelve designs but I only chose two of them, this being one. These were designed by Adam Pescott, my favorite character that he has created is Bently Bear. I also like Lickle Ted but as yet I haven’t got round to stitching any of those.

On the chart it gives the size for the design area on 16 count Aida but I wanted it a little bigger than that so I stitched this on 14 count, so instead of being 2 1/2″ X 2 1/2″ mine has turned out to be 3″ X 3″ just a little bigger but not too much.

Party Bear

Awwww this little bear looks like he’s having fun at a party.

This finished cross stitch is going to be made into a card, not sure who I’m going to give this card to yet but it will go in the card stash ready to be used.

Being 6.5 X 7.5 cm in size I managed to get this stitched and finished in just a few hours so a nice quick stitch for my first completed one of 2012.

I do have a couple of big projects on the go as well so it is really nice to do some of these little ones just for a change.

Santa and Reindeer

This is the last of the Christmas cross stitches to put on here, until the next time. I have really enjoyed stitching all these wonderful pictures and I know they have been really appreciated by the members of family who received these cards.

I have just noticed on this cross stitch that I forgot to fluff up the Whisper thread on Santa’s beard and hat before taking the photograph, I did remember to do that before the card was sent though.

Looking back at all the Christmas cross stitches I have done I’m surprised that I have only done one of Father Christmas, a bit late to change that now though.
